Why do n’t you walk around on foot in the city?

Core tip: In Danyang, this seems to be blank. Is there really no "humanistic road" in our city that is worth walking on? The reporter tried a preliminary plan.

In recent years, "light travel" has become the choice of more and more young people. A talkative "indigenous" team leader brings together a small number of temporary teams from the Internet to go offline. They measure history with footsteps , Feel the culture in communication. This is easy to carry out in many large and medium-sized cities with rich tourism resources. Not only are tourists involved, but also people who have a hard time having a chance to learn more about their city. But in Danyang, this seems to be blank. Is there really no "humanistic road" in our city that is worth walking on? The reporter tried a preliminary plan.

Taking Peace in the Middle of Nowhere: Cultural Tour of the City

Starting point: Tongtai Bridge, Moon Island

Suggested time: 2 ~ 3 hours

This is a journey to find history and culture in the downtown area. It is recommended that one person lead the team and one person explain. The team members are controlled by 10 to 15 people.

First half: Tongtai Bridge to People's Park

The trekking team gathers at Tongtai Bridge (Maxiangmen Bridge) in the city center, and everyone can relax and talk in the pavilion and get to know each other. This ancient bridge of the Ming Dynasty has experienced more than 400 years of wind and rain, and it can tell a lot of stories. From here, through the public square covered by flowers and trees, the team members can visit the former site of the General Committee. From the building of Daijia Garden to the historical situation on the eve of liberating Shanghai, the team members can have a glimpse of the ups and downs of Danyang's modern history. Crossing the road is the renovation of the Zhangjia compound. It is worth seeing not only the buildings with twists and turns, but also the national industry and commerce in Danyang. Team members can visit the permanent exhibition to learn about "yang silk" and "five golden flowers" of Danyang textile and silk industry. Turn right when you go out is the tree-lined road in Chenghe Road that is still in the city center. The tall plane trees add a lot of romantic colors to the street. If you can stroll here in autumn, the team members will have a different feeling. Turn west into Xinqiao West Road, and the former residence of Sanlu is on the right, which is now the site of the Danyang Art Museum. The team members can not only gain an in-depth understanding of the life stories and cultural contributions of three outstanding cultural celebrities from Danyang—the famous painter and art educator Lu Fengzi, the famous Buddhist master Lu Ye, the famous linguist, language educator, and translator Lu Shuxiang. You may also encounter a wonderful art exhibition. After leaving the former residence of Sanlu, walk along Shuiguan North Road to the People's Park. The team members can take a break here and visit the Tang Zhonghe Bell. The bell of Gupuning Temple has experienced more than 1,100 years of ups and downs, and brought the charm of Tang Dynasty to us from history. This is the physical testimony of Danyang's long history.

Second half: Ximen Old Street to Moon Island

After leaving the People's Park, the journey enters the second half of the journey, and the team can feel a different kind of city style in the ancient streets that have survived to this day. From Park Road to Gukou Street, congratulations on your "crossing"! Ximen Old Street preserves the historical fragments that have been left in Danyang for hundreds of years: from the fire alarm bell tower of the Republic of China to conceive of the city management of the year; from the Ming and Qing dynasties stone archway Zhengyifang; then from the broken Gospel Hall and The old shops along the street, which are still operating normally, reminisce about the old days ... In this old street full of life, time seems to slow down. At the end of the road is the quite impressive new antique building, the West Gate City Tower, Yunyang Tower. Now it is a very popular attraction, and members can take pictures here. Head south to Xinmin West Road in Cheshuimalong. After passing the other end of Gukou Street, you can taste the famous stinky tofu in Danyang, and then you will arrive at Danzhong in the province. This is the ancient temple of Danyang. There are still two ancient bridges and other monuments, but Danzhong in the province is generally not open to the public. If you want to visit, you can try to apply to the school in advance. From the Xiaodongmen Square in front of the People's Hospital of Danzhong next to the province, take a detour to Jiangjiayuan East Road and you will soon be at Nanmen Street. Here is a food paradise in the hearts of many Danyang people. Various snacks are hidden in the shops and alleys along the street, waiting for your discovery. At the other end of Nanmen Street is the South Gate Pier. The quaint and magnificent Kaitai Bridge is still guarding the water rhyme in its place, which makes it easy to associate the vocal wharf and the developed transport in the past. Continue along Kaitai Road, the team members can listen to this beautiful love story under the sculpture of Cowherd and Girl Weaver, finally say goodbye to each other in the beautiful style of Moon Island, and end this endless trekking journey.

Expansion route:

In addition to the recommended itinerary, the team members can also take transportation to Wanshan Park to visit Wanshan Tower. Because the tower is being repaired, it is not included in this route. In addition, the Nan Dynasty stone carvings on the outskirts of the city are also a must-see cultural scene in Danyang.
